What is this?
This website is the result of a semester long dig into Northeastern University's campus expansion. Our archival research begins in 1913, and takes us up to the present day with the construction of LightView.
"Map" is our inaugural piece, an interactive map made with open source tools to illustrate key moments where Northeastern outbid a community group for university space.
"Rules," "Cards," and "Results" will take you through our tangible representation of this research-- a deck of cards that can be used with a Jenga set to simulate Northeastern's relationship with its students and neighboring communities.
"Tour" is our final venture, an immersive piece of audio journalism that allows listeners to walk themselves through an alternative, underground campus tour. The best way to listen? Scan a QR code sticker at one of the eight buildings, which takes you straight to our SoundCloud.
Who made it?
Archival research was conducted by Courtney Buckley, Audrey Cooney, Elisely Cruz, Drew Daylor, Julia Guilardi, Grant Hill, Fanfan Kong, Emily Mitchell, and Alistair Pike. We're a team of upperclassman journalism majors with, as you can see, oodles of school spirit.
Who's your source?
Ironically, all data and quotes were found at the Snell Library archives at Northeastern University from various newspapers and primary source documents.
