Once one tower falls, the remaining teams win. Read the appropriate result once a tower falls.

Northeastern and Students Win

At the cost of Boston residents, accessible student housing is developed by Northeastern for all students. On campus housing is guaranteed for all Northeastern underclassman students. Northeastern benefits from the increase in housing developments as well by shifting towards high cost luxury student housing, such as the new LightView building. Boston in pleased with Northeastern’s commitment to its students living on campus and lowers PILOT program quotas for them.

Local, low-income residents are displaced by the increase in student housing developments. Different families are forced to live together in close proximity and those with Section 8 Housing Vouchers aren’t able to place them.

Students and Community Win

Northeastern and Boston work together to finance public access projects for the community. The university gets a couple of good P.R. stories published. These projects come at the cost of new student resources.

Boston downscales requested PILOT program payments in exchange for Northeastern’s public access projects. The university invests less in scholarships for low income students.

Legislation guaranteeing affordable housing for non-student residents allows small community businesses to stay in place. Students do not receive guaranteed on campus housing and are forced to disperse throughout Greater Boston.

Northeastern and Community Win

Students and the community band together and demand Northeastern to develop dual purpose affordable housing for students and Boston residents.

Northeastern is pressured by student and community groups to meet mandated PILOT program quotas. Spending is determined by the community. University resources make off campus living safer for students living off campus.

Less spending on new university buildings means a lower application rate for Northeastern. The university fall in US News and World Report rankings and many executive officials lose their jobs.
